Application
The UFO-LP Series low-profile fluorescent emergency battery packs work in conjunction with a low-profile or standard-size electronic AC ballast to convert new or existing fluorescent fixtures into unobtrusive emergency lighting, eliminating the need to install additional emergency lighting units. Model UFO-LP1 can be used with one 21 - 28W standard or 24 - 54W high output T5; one 32W (4’), 40W (5’) or 44W H0 (4’) T8 fluorescent lamp; or one 36 - 55W (4-pin) long compact fluorescent lamp. Model UFO-LP2 can be used with one 14 - 54W (2’ - 4’) standard or high output T5; 17 -55W (2’ - 5’) standard or high output T8 or 36 - 55W (4-pin) long compact fluorescent lamp. UFO-LP Series models are also compatible with most 1, 2, 3 and 4-lamp electronic (including those containing end-of-lamp-life shutdown circuits), standard, energy saving, and dimming AC ballasts. Construction
All unit housings consist of a compact case constructed of 22 gauge sheet metal finished in black enamel. The unit contains a solid-state charger with automatic transfer circuit, test switch, LED charge indicator light, a dependable, high-frequency inverter and a high-temperature, nickel-cadmium battery.

Installation
UFO-LP series models do not affect normal fixture operation and may be used with either a switched or unswitched fixture. If a switched fixture is used, an unswitched hot lead must be connected to the emergency ballast. The emergency battery pack must be fed from the same branch circuit as the AC ballast. UFO-LP series models are for installation inside the fixture ballast channel. UFO-LP Series emergency battery packs are not suitable for installation in heated air outlet fixtures and wet or hazardous location fixtures. Installation is not recommended with fixtures where the ambient temperature may fall below 0°C (32°F).

Illumination
Initial emergency lighting output is 390 -700 lumens on UFO-LP1. Initial emergency lighting output is 600 - 1325 lumens on UFO-LP2. During emergency operation, one lamp is illuminated, even if installed with a multi-lamp AC ballast.
